In compliance with official  guidelines, we are able to offer, weight loss and fat reduction treatments.  

Whilst these have been made popular by Stars using medications such as Ozempic to aid weight loss, products such as Tirzepitide (Mounjaro) and semaglutide (Wegovy) are approved by NICE as treatments for weight loss.  

There has also been much negativity surrounding use for weight loss purposes with a feeling that this is a diabetic medication and it's use is resulting in diabetic patients struggling to obtain medications.  Let's flip this for perspective!  

Living with obesity can also increase your risk of developing many potentially serious health conditions, including:

1. type 2 diabetes 
2. high blood pressure
3. high cholesterol and atherosclerosis (where fatty deposits narrow your arteries), which can lead to coronary heart disease and stroke
4. asthma
5. metabolic syndrome, a combination of diabetes, high blood pressure and obesity
6. several types of cancer, including bowel cancer, breast cancer and womb cancer
7. gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), where stomach acid leaks out of the stomach and into the gullet
8. gallstones 
9. reduced fertility
10. osteoarthritis, a condition involving pain and stiffness in your joints
11. sleep apnoea, a condition that causes interrupted breathing during sleep, which can lead to daytime sleepiness with an increased risk of road traffic accidents, as well as a greater risk of diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease
12. liver disease and kidney disease
13. pregnancy complications, such as gestational diabetes or pre-eclampsia, when a woman experiences a potentially dangerous rise in blood pressure during pregnancy

Obesity reduces life expectancy by an average of 3 to 10 years, depending on how severe it is. 

This highlights to me as an NHS nurse (and furthermore those people much higher up the chain) that PREVENTION IS MUCH BETTER THAN CURE.

Even privately, there are requirements that must be met in order to be eligible to receive this treatment:  

1. This must  be as an adjunct to a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in adults with an initial Body Mass Index (BMI) of

• ≥ 30 kg/ m2 (obese)

 or

• ≥ 27 kg/m2 to < 30 kg/m2 (overweight) in the presence of at least one weight-related comorbid condition (e.g., hypertension, dyslipidaemia, obstructive sleep apnoea, cardiovascular disease, prediabetes, or type 2 diabetes mellitus).

The medication is administered  by an approved weekly injection and lowers body weight and body fat mass  through the mechanisms associated with decreased food intake through the regulation of appetite and modulation of fat utilisation.

The medication dosage is not automatically increased at every review. Increasing the dose too soon may lead to faster weight loss, but often at the expense of muscle loss. Whilst you may not be losing weight as quickly as you hope, consistent, gradual weight loss is not only more sustainable, but it also helps preserve muscle while reducing fat, which is important for long-term success and therefore remaining on your current dose may be recommended allowing your body to adjust gradually and continue progressing safely.

To support your weight loss, consider increasing your protein intake. This helps promote satiety and maintain muscle mass, both of which are important for healthy and sustainable weight loss. Also, try to avoid highly refined sugars and carbohydrates, as they can cause blood sugar spikes followed by increased hunger. Staying well hydrated throughout the day can also help reduce appetite and support your overall well-being.

Pressotherapy is a wellness treatment used extensively in medical and cosmetic settings. The non-invasive procedure stimulates the body’s lymphatic system which, when functioning optimally transports lymph, a fluid that contains white blood cells around the body to help fight infection. Benefits of pressotherapy include: relaxed muscles and fewer aches, reduction in appearance of cellulite and stretch marks, reduction of swelling and stiffness in the limbs, removal of toxins and toned and firmer skin.
