Botulinum Toxin A is an effective treatment for people with chronic migraine. However, NICE guidelines have strict criteria for when this treatment should be used. If you already have a diagnosis of either chronic or episiodic migraine from your GP or a Consultant, after a consultation, I may be able to help with products such as Botox or Bocouture. The newer Alluzience product is not suitable for this treatment. You will require a course of 2 treatments 3 months apart. One treatment will not be effective. The treatment involves 31 small injections using either Botox or Bocouture in various areas of your head and neck/shoulders.
Procedure Time: from 30 minutes.
Back to Work: Straight away.
Pain: None to mild.
Anaesthetic: None required.
Side Effects: Slight swelling and bruising.
Recovery Time: 1-3 days.
Results: Reducing initially but full treatment is 2 courses so results assessed only after this point If successful, further treatment offered.
Duration of Results: 3 months after second treatment
Botulinum Toxin A injections are licensed for treating axillary (underarm) hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating. After consultation it may be decided that products such as Botox or Bocouture would be an acceptable treatment as it is generally one of the only effective treatments by injection into the skin to combat this condition. The effects eventually wear off after about three to six months. It is a preparation of protein and when small doses are injected into the skin, it blocks the signals from the nervous system that supply the sweat glands; this stops them working so hard and prevents them from producing so much sweat.
Procedure Time: from 40 minutes.
Back to Work: Straight away.
Pain: None to mild.
Anaesthetic: Numbing cream if required
Side Effects: Slight swelling and bruising.
Recovery Time: 1-3 days.
Results: 14 days
Duration of Results: 3 -6 months.

It is estimated that approximately 8% to 31% of the population experiences bruxism, which is the grinding or clenching of teeth, often during sleep. With time the majority of these may suffer from signs & symptoms of masseter hypertrophy. That is almost 1 out of every 10 individual walking into a clinic.
Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) is a broader term that encompasses various conditions affecting the jaw joint and surrounding muscles. The prevalence of TMJ disorders is not as well-defined as bruxism, but it is estimated that around 5% to 12% of the population may experience some form of TMJ disorder.
